ABOUT ME

I have been involved with dogs for as long as I can remember, but started showing Cavaliers in 1982. I lived and exhibited in Belgium where from very limited breeding I bred ten champions in the EU and the first Champion Black & Tan in France.  Four American Champions, Canadian Champion and South African Champion. In the UK I have bred CC & Res CC winners and one of the top stud dogs who sired many champions for other breeders.

I had  the privilege of awarding Challenge Certificates in Cavaliers for the first time in 1999 at Darlington Ch. Show, and being a co-author of the book “The Best of Care” in the published book “Cavalier King Charles Spaniels” .  I served on the committee of

The Humberside Cavalier Club for almost 20 years, having various jobs from Kitchen Assistant, Breed Health Representative, Breed Rescue Co-ordinator, Puppy Register Co-ordinator and then took over as Secretary and remained in that position for over ten years, until I retired from the commitee.

For many years I had wanted a Japanese Chin having seen them at the shows in Europe, where four breeds shared a breed club, the Cavalier and Chin being two of those breeds, but the time just never seemed right! until spending time with a friend in Scotland and her Japanese Chin!  I decided that it was now or never and I soon became hooked, never dreaming they would take over my life, and now could never be without these charming little dogs. My only regret is that I didn’t bring them into our family sooner!   I was welcomed into the breed making many friends and enjoying the company of good friends at shows, where I have had a modicum of success owning and breeding CC & Res CC winners. I serve on the committee of The Japanese Chin Club UK which I really enjoy, and am The Breed Health Co-ordinator, and Membership Secretary. Until recently was the only breed club in the UK, but due to the breeds ever growing popularity now there are two newly formed clubs The Northern Japanese Chin Club and also The Southern Japanese Chin Club.

I felt honoured to be asked to judge The Japanese Chin Club UK Open Show in March 2017 and now excited and very much looking forward to awarding my first set of Challenge Certificates in the breed at LKA in December 2019 and also returning to Belgium in July 2019 to judge Cavaliers and Japanese Chins at the Breed Club Pejatoyspa

Our dogs live as much valued and loved family, enjoying nothing more than having the freedom to run around the garden as they wish, or lie on the sofa or in front of the fire. Occasionally we have a litter when we want to continue to show, but breeding is very limited, and our dogs are not retired to pet homes when they finish their show careers or maternity duties, continuing to enjoy their lives as much loved family members.
